This FREE Event Includes:- Global issues: a 2-day competition tackling issues through data science
- Mentors and workshops: provided by our sponsors on-site, for data handling and learning toolboxes
- Problems: Solve your own problem or tackle a defined problem from an industry leader/faculty member (see PROJECT IDEAS)
- Teams: of 1-4. Don't have a team? We can find you one!
- Food: Meals, snacks, and caffeine provided!
- Prizes: Several awesome prizes for different categories and Free T-Shirt for participants
Eligibility
- Only Stanford students (undergraduate or graduate) are allowed to participate in this inaugural event
- Teams of 1-4 people
- Must be registered via bigearthhacks.stanford.edu website
Requirements
Project descriptions and hacks must be posted to devpost prior to 8am on Sunday, April 15 to be considered for prizes. (Hacking continues until 9am, but we need an initial project description in order to assign you a spot at the Project Expo and for Judging purposes)
Prizes
Grand prize: Electric Scooters
Each member of the team with the best planetary solution will receive a brand new electric scooter.
Second Prize: Xbox One S
Each member of the 2nd place team will receive an Xbox One S.
Third Prize: Echo Spots
Echo Spot for each member of the 3rd place team.
Best Use of AWS credits
Each member of the team who best uses AWS credits in their project will each receive an Echo Dot
Best Seismic Noise detection hack
An Echo Dot will be awarded to each member of the team who has the best seismic noise detection.
Best use of MATLAB
Each member of the team who makes best use of MATLAB for their project will receive a $40 Amazon gift card.
Best Mapbox solution using multiple data sources
Each member of the team who makes best use of multiple data sets will receive a $40 Amazon gift card.
Best use of Planet Data
Each member of the team who makes best use of Planet data for their project will receive a $40 Amazon gift card.
Best use of Satellogic Data
Each member of the team who makes best use of Satellogic Data will receive a $40 Amazon gift card. In addition, the winning team can task a satellite to capture an image of whatever they want.
Best Solo Project
For the best solo (team of 1) project, the winner will receive a Echo Spot.
